About Us

Yercombe Lodge is a Residential Home and Day Centre. The Residential Home provides long-term residential rooms, short stay respite care and a day care service for the elderly and younger physically disabled people.
Our Day Centre provides activities and entertainment in a social atmosphere for people with physical disabilities.

Situated on the outskirts of Stinchcombe, between Dursley and Wotton-under-Edge, it lies under the Cotswold escarpment in 18 acres of woodland and gardens. It enjoys superb panoramic views over the Berkeley Vale and across the River Severn to the Forest of Dean and the Welsh mountains.

Originally, Yercombe was the home of the late Herbert Maxwell Workman JP, who wished that his house should be used to benefit the people in the county of Gloucestershire who needed special care. To this end, he founded a Trust in 1972, now a Registered Charity (No. 263687), which owns and runs it. Over the years, the house has been expanded and modified to ensure that the facilities meet the requirements for the proper care of disabled people of all ages. Good access is provided for wheel chairs throughout the house and garden. Our experienced Manager, assisted by a team of qualified staff and a number of carefully chosen volunteers, provides a high standard of care and a range of interesting activities.
